These GENERAL TOPICS refer to the following:








In this section you will see discussions on various words, mostly taken from the list of recommended words for tests like the GRE.



The discussions could include synonyms, antonyms and examples of their uses in actual sentences.










Here I will include short pages on the use of verbs, verb tenses, some practical rules to follow, and examples of common mistakes made by non-native speakers.



Notice: this is NOT a Grammar Blog, my aim is to provide easy-to-use tips by means of short messages.







  • EXPRESSIONS




This section is where I write about all sorts of phrases, sayings, figures of speech, idioms and the like.



I believe these elements of the English language are the most confusing for non-native speakers and even for native speakers at times!



My experiences while teaching English and Test preparation to Spanish speakers have given me a good understanding of the difficulties that the learners face in this area. I believe that the discussions on this Blog will also be useful to speakers of other languages.



Over a period of some years I have built quite a long list of these typical expressions.
