MY COMMENTS ON THESE WORDS.
As a native English speaker I have to say that I might
not choose any of these words when writing an essay, or one of my internet
articles.
I might use “Flamboyant” in a natural speaking or
writing flow, but “Filch” would not come naturally. I think I would use “steal”
instead.
However, all the specialists who prepare materials for
the Tests that are mentioned on this Blog are very emphatic about the long list
of words that are needed to improve a score.
So maybe the words can be avoided in the essay
writing, which is something that each candidate produces personally, but they
will appear in the short test questions on comprehension and the use of
vocabulary.
That means that the only alternative is to study them
and to try and use them as much as possible!
Now for Spanish speaking persons who are struggling with
English as a second language, known as ESL, there is some hope in associating
the words to familiar terms in Spanish.
For instance, “Fictitious” relates well to the word “ficticio”, the Spanish equivalent.
A word of warning: the associations with a similar
Spanish word don’t always work!

ReplyDeleteHi Cyndi! This is an experiment! Trying to make a living, got laid off of my job. How about a follow? I searched and Google disconnected Friend Connect, now it's all Google+ and this is a separate account to my other Google + one, I'm not too clear on this, so I hope it gets sorted out! Thanks for the visit and the comment, this is the first!
